In the beginning God
created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and
void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God
moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and
there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: God divided the
light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he
called Night. And that was the First day.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let
them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
all other living things on the earth. The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Created a garden in Eden and put the man whom he had formed in the Garden of Eden. God caused to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food. And also the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil God said to the man, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die." And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I
will make him an help mate for him.
And the LORD God caused Adam to go into a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and
he sleep and he took one of his ribs, and made a woman. And Adam said, This
is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man. |
They heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called to Adam, and said to him, Where are you? I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And God said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree, which I commanded you that you should not eat?
Adam said, Eve who you gave to be with me, she gave me the fruit
of the tree, and I did eat it. The LORD God said to Eve, What is
this that you have done? Eve said, The serpent beguiled me,
and I did eat it. Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return to the ground; for out of it what you have taken: for dust you are, and to dust shalt you return. And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. To Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden, Cherub, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. |
