Amphitrite: The goddess of the sea






Amphitrite(Romans called her Salacia)
A sea-goddess. Daughter of either Nereus and Doris or of Oceanus and Tethys. Amphirite is a Nereid, (A type of Oceanid) a water nymph that is confined to the waters surrounding Greece.

Poseidon married Amphitrite
Poseidon only married Amphitrite after Delphin persuaded her. As consort and wife of Poseidon, Poseidon sent a dolphin after her and it took her back. After he married her, he rewarded the dolphin by making it a constellation and placing it in the heavens.

Home Life
When he not living in Olympus, Poseidon lived with his Oceanid wife and queen, Amphitrite, in his underwater palace, Aegae. He always carried a mighty trident. A blow from trident split open rock. He drove two-horse chariot over the waves often taking Amphitrite along.

Poseidon; Lord of the sea.
Poseidon was the god of the sea, of earthquakes, of horses. Son of the titans, Cronus and Rhea, was also known as the Roman god of the sea, Neptune. Like his brother Zeus, he had numerous affairs with nymphs and mortals before marrying Amphitrite.

Gold Crown
Zeus send thunder and lightning to proved Minos, king of Crete, was the son of Zeus, the king threw a gold coin into the sea, and asked the Athenian hero, Theseus, to proved he was the son of Poseidon. When Theseus jumped into the sea to fetch the coin, Amphitrite not gave coin to Theseus, but her gold crown as proof.

Mother Of:
She was the mother of the fish-man Triton, Rhode, Albion, Charybdis and Benthesicyme.

Generally
Amphitrite, with her consorts, rode a chariot pulled by sea creatures, or rode on a sea creature, surrounded by cherubs. Her waving hair covered with a net, and other things of the sea.
