Betty Boop - Cartoon Idle

Betty Boop was strangely appealing, pure and virtuous yet coy and a little risque. While extruding innocence in her speech, her body language and voice inflections, she expressed sensuality.

Betty Boop was the Sex Symbol of the animated world and made for the adult audience.

Betty's figure was modeled after Mae West. Her singing style taken from the than popular Helen Kane the "Boop-Boop-a-Doop" girl. Betty's distinctive voice was usually done by May Questal.

There were more than one 100 Betty Boop cartoons made. In 1933, narrow minded, self righteous censorship laws put an end to it.

Now, more rational minds prevail, folks seem to still like the wit, the music and the charm of Betty Boop as much as ever.
