As an eerie mist rose from the marsh where the fisherman was casting his net. The fisherman was thinking "Such a poor place to catch fish, and now this mist." He wished he had been born more fortunate. The fisherman thought "Than I would not have so many troubles." The mist engulfed his boat with a light of it's own. "Not unusual" he thought "for the end of October." As it became dark, he lost his sense of direction. Lighting appeared so he headed for the dim outline of land in the distance. A castle, here in the middle of the marsh. He didn't remember seeing it before. "Well," he thought "any port in a storm". The huge door was ajar. He went in. The huge door close behind him. "The wind" he thought. The castle was old, as from a bygone day. The smell of ancient dust and death enveloped him. It was quiet, Too quiet, there was a strange chill in the air. The stone floor had a layer of dust from a hundred years. "Well, at least I am safe here" he thought, not quite believing him self. The fisherman thought "Now I will have to stay here until the storm lets up" lamenting his ill luck. The fisherman felt a presence, but surely there was none but him there. As the fisherman's eyes adjusted to the dim light of the castle, he could see the huge interior, the spiraling stair way, arching door ways. Ancient tapestries on the stone walls. Surely it it's day this was a place of joy. At first the fisherman was not sure he seen it.
From the gray mist a form emerged.
The fisherman spoke, "How could you know of me, for I am but a poor
fisherman, and of no importance to anyone".
The ghost of the castle said "Friend: if thee bare with me, I shall tell thee
the story of how I came to be here"
"As I was a young man, born of royalty and privileges, had a beautiful and
loving wife".
There is but one day my tormented soul can walk the earth. Later, as the fisherman developed many
frienships. Many who knew him found that he could be counted upon to help in
time of need. The fisherman was well liked, he was always happy and friendly.
He enjoyed life and was good to be around.
