I am You!

"Good Night" Mr. Hartman, the secretory said as he left work. John Hartman was quite successful and on the eve of his retirement, but had never thought of it much.

John had worked hard all his live and his agile mind was always working. He could plan things out well, always had new thoughts, ideas, concepts and found solutions for any problems that arose.

John was brilliant and highly successful. Now he could retire and enjoy his success.

As usual, John was thinking of Strategies for work tomorrow, than realizing there was no longer a need to. He felt strangely saddened by the idea. "Well maybe a hot shower will make me feel better" he thought.

When John got out of the shower, the steam clouds fogged his full length mirror in a strange way. John could see a reflection but it looked different and moved different than he.

The reflection said to him "What are you going to do now?" When you were 6, you wanted to be a fireman. You always wanted to see the world, climb the pyramids, learn to sail. To become a doctor. "What are you going to do now?"

Who are you and how is it that you know so much about me?       I am You. I am Your Ghost, I am Your Spirit, I am Your Childhood, I am the Specter of Your Dreams that died when you took the world too seriously. "What are you going to do now?"

John said "Now I can do the things I always wanted to do." "Now I can fulfill my dreams." "Now I can fulfill my Goals." "Now I can live out my fantasies." "What are you going to do now?" repeated the Specter.

John said "I can do all the things I always wanted to do." "I can do all the things I always dreamed of doing." "I have time to do the things I never had time to do before." "What are you going to do now?" repeated the Specter.

John said "I don't know what i will do first. The Specter said, "I know what you will have to do first." "You will have to remember who you are." "You will have to remember what you are." "You will have to remember where you were going before you got wrapped up in your career."
