The Guide. Anubis, The jackal-headed god responsible for the processes of embalming and the protection of cemeteries. guides the deceast through the underworld and brings them to the Hall of Ma'at.

Helps prepare them for the "Weighing of the Heart". It is believed that the heart is the location of the "Soul" or "Consisiosness"

The Devourer. Ammut also called: Amam, Am-mit.

The head of a crocodile, the middle of a lioness and the hind quarters of a hippopotamus.

A female demon, she is found in The Book of the Dead.
During the weighing of the heart of a deceased person against the feather of Maat. Ammut would devour the souls of those who's hearts proved heavier than Maats feather.
It meant the end of existence. They would never meet Osiris and live forever in the Fields of Peace.

Thoth: Record keeper. Egyptian moon god. Symbols: ibis, baboon, writing palette and reed pens Thoth was self-created at the beginning of time, along as were some other gods.

Later as a god of wisdom, magic, music, medicine, astronomy, geometry, surveying, drawing and writing.

Thoth was shown in human form with the head of an ibis, wearing a crown consisting of a crescent moon topped by a moon disk, sometimes as an ibis or a baboon. Both the ibis and the baboon were sacred to him.

Thoth was as an arbiter and messenger of the gods, was the vizier and official scribe of the afterworld, and that the Book of the Dead was written by him.

Osirus: Judge of the dead. Supreme god and judge of the dead. The symbol of resurrection and eternal life. Provider of fertility and prosperity to the living.

Osiris symbolized the creative forces of nature and of life. Called the great benefactor of humanity, he brought to the people knowledge of agriculture and civilization.

He is a bearded man wearing white mummy wrappings. His skin is green to represent vegetation or red to represent the earth.

ISIS: Mother Goddess ISIS: In the Book of the Dead, Isis is regarded as the giver of life and food to the dead. She may also be one of the judges of the dead. Another of her roles was to protect Imsety, one of the four sons of Horus, as he guarded over the liver of the deceased.
