Erebus, darkness and the underground

The universe always had material but it was in a state of Chaos. Within Chaos was air, land and water atoms which were always fighting each other. Eventually land collected together, was surrounded by water and engulfed by air.

The mountains became romantically infatuated with the seas. The mountains and seas mated to produce (Through "Parthenogenesis")

  • Nyx was sister of Erebus (darkness and the underground) Gaia (Earth)
    • Gaia (Earth). who in her sleep gave birth to her husband, Uranus (God of the sky) and is a decedents of the Titans.

    • Nyx (Night and negativity)
    • Nyx sometimes comes up in mythology as a negative and dark force. Generally a personification of the more negative human Characteristics. Erebus and Nyx are a set. Perhaps their main purpose is to serve as an example of what not to do.

    Nyx (Nox) She was the goddess of night. She was the daughter of Chaos and the mother of Death and Sleep. She was one of the most feared of the goddess'
  • Ker (Cer)
    Daughter of Nyx and the personification or Goddess of violent death. Daughter of Nyx. She is pictured as a black bird hovering over a corpse.
  • Senecta (Geras )
    Goddess of old age. Daughter of Erebus and Nyx.
  • Aether
    The god representing pure air, son of Erebus (The dark region of the underworld through which the dead must pass before they reach Hades) and Nyx (She was the goddess of night).
  • Hemera
    Representation of day; she was the daughter of Nyx and Erebus to offset Nyx (She was the goddess of night)
  • Moros
    The son of Erebus and Nyx. Moros was the god of doom.
  • Philotes
    Daughter of Nyx and goddess of affection.
  • Somnus
    The god of sleep.
  • Eris
    is the goddess of discord. Eris ("Strife") Daughter of Nyx or Zeus and Hear. One time the gods attended a wedding but to this banquet Eris (Discord) was not invited, she was in pain because of anger and jealousy. So she decided to spoil the feast and so, though unwelcome, she appeared and threw a golden apples with the inscription for the fairest could be read, among the guests. (known as the apple of discord)
    This started a dispute between Hear, Athena and Aphrodite. So Zeus, asked Paris, to be the judge.
    Each goddess tried to bribe Paris, he chose Aphrodote, who as a reward made the most beautiful mortal woman fall in love with him. That was Helen of Troy. He took her with him to Troy.
    Helen's husband, the king, found out and sent a fleet of ships to wage the 10 year Trojan. Helen was returned after every Trojan man and boy was put to death and the women enslaved.
