Before earth and sea and heaven were created, all things were Chaos - The Greek God and Nature at last interposed, separating earth from sea, and heaven from both. Arranging the earth and sea as mountains, valleys, distributed woods, fountains, fertile fields. and stony plains.

Placing therein fishes of the sea, birds of the air, and four-footed beasts of the land. But a nobler animal was wanted, and Man was made witn an upright stature so their faces can see heaven, and the stars. Men lived free from ills, toil and sicknesses and lived in a golden age.

Something was missing: Woman was not yet made. Zeus conspired to punish Prometheus and his brother, for stealing fire from heaven; and man, for accepting the gift. The first woman was named Pandora. She was made in heaven, every god contributing something to perfect her. Venus gave her beauty, Mercury persuasion, Apollo music, etc.

Pandora was sent "in good faith", by Zeus, to bless man; that she was given a box containing her marriage presents, every god had put some blessing.

Pandora opened the box and before Pandora could close the box again, the blessings all escaped. Only Hope remained there.
