The Sermon on the Mount is from The Bible Book; 40 Matthew and tells of Jesus talking to the multitude from the top of a mountain in such a way that everyone could see and hear him AS if he were talking personally to each person, God can do that kind of thing. The Sermon on the Mount is filled with the Wisdom of the Ages, spoken of by Wise men of all religions, cultures and races through out history. The Sermon on the Mount starts with the basic concept of self worth, for we must love our selves if we are to love others.
The Golden Rule. Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Love your Neighbor. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. . . But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; . . . That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. . . Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Go forth and do good things. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. . . . Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. . . . Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Follow the straight and narrow. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: . . . Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. . .
Judge all men fairly.
Judge not, that ye be not judged. . . For with what judgment ye judge, ye
shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you
again. . . And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but
considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Avoid vengeance. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. . . And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. . Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Build on a solid foundation.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. . .
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy
name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many
wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart
from me, ye that work iniquity.
Ask for help in doing good works.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall
be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh
findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Live today, avoid Worrying about the future that you can not change.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or
what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the
life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Know who to follow.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly
they are ravening wolves. |
