The Sixties
The SIXTIES were an exciting time of social and technological change.
The authorizes were no longer considered "The Authority", traditional ideas and standards were open to question.
The foley of the Vietnam war was a major focal point. The "Establishment" was distrusted and young people started thinking for them selves.
Some ideas good, some bad, but all were different.
The basic values and beliefs questioned. I believe that with the coming of age of television and mass media, ideas spread more quickly than ever before. Now with the Internet, the walls of xenophobia has been broken down.
Wow!! you mean that "The Evil Empire" is really just people like us?
You mean that all humanity has common needs and goals?
Totally Awesome!!

Guess you would say I am a child of the 60s. Wore bell-bottoms, colorful shirts and ornaments, sandals.

Was for peace (Still am). Never understood why we can't live in peace (Still don't). Served in the Peace Corps.

Was for freedom of expression (Still am) Never understood why people are threatened by other opinions. (Still Don't)

Was for equality of all people. (Still am) Never understood why other types people should be considered different. Why their ways are not as valid as our own. (Still Don't)

Was for joy and happiness (Still am). Never understood why people strive for more "things" than they need. (Still don't). The more "things" we own, the more "things" own us by requiring maintenance, protection, upkeep.

Was against war (Still am) Never understood why we should go to war. (Still Don't)

Smoked pot, but didn't inhale (Yeah, Right!) Had a beard. (Still do), gave up the long hair and earrings.

  Peace
